How asbestos to cancer

How asbestos to cancer

A team of researchers, led by Dr. Hanning Yang wood. Michael Karbon, the Cancer Research Center at the University of Hawaii, detected the relationship puzzle asbestos cancer. According to statistics, more than 20 million people in the United States, and many more around the world who are exposed to asbestos, the risk of developing malignant mesothelioma, is intractable tumors do not respond to different pharmaceutical treatments affects the membranes covering the lungs and abdomen. It was found that inhalation of asbestos increases the risk of lung cancer among smokers.

Try group, comprising participants from the universities of New York, Chicago, webetrsbrg, and San Raffaele in Milan, Imperial London, searching for an answer to a question that has baffled scientists over the past 40 years: How can asbestos fibers, which kill cells, to cancer?
As is known to all the dead cell cannot grow or be a tumor.

They found that asbestos kills cells by stimulating the process called "programmed cell necrosis" from editing article (HMGB1) which in turn stimulates tumor growth by type of inflammation causes the release of certain mutagens. It also noted high levels of HMGB1 protein in plasma of patients who were exposed to asbestos. Thus, the researchers concluded that they can target the HMGB1 protein to prevent/treat malignant mesothelioma through some serological tests that detect traces of asbestos in the blood. Through intervention in inflammation mechanism caused by asbestos, HMGB1 protein, can reduce the risk of cancer in individuals exposed to asbestos and reduce the rate of tumor growth in patients with malignant mesothelioma.

In an attempt to test this hypothesis, the team plans to conduct a clinical trial in an isolated province of "kabadochia" which more than 50% of its population due to malignant mesothelioma. If the results are positive, it is likely that the experience is extended and applied in the United States.

In fact, this research underlines the role of inflammation in various types of cancer, it also suggests some new clinical tools to identify individuals at risk, and reduction of tumor growth. The researchers are planning to test a new hypothesis about the prevention of malignant mesothelioma, as with colon cancer, aspirin or some abuse drugs that stop inflammation.
